What is the difference between a price and a policy?
In ShopInsure, I first show the prices returned for your request. Those results don’t include verified coverage limits, deductibles or approval. When you choose an option and send a request, Jenna checks the actual insurance company quote.
Even a reviewed quote still needs the applicable application, payment and issuance steps. Selecting a result, saving it or sending a review request does not buy insurance or make coverage effective.
| Step | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Online price | A starting price returned for the information supplied. |
| Agency quote review | The actual company quote and checked terms shared by Jenna. |
| Policy issuance | The agency/company confirms completion and the coverage effective date. |
What should I compare in the actual quotes?
I’d use the same checklist for each option and ask Jenna to explain any differences. Florida’s Insurance Consumer Advocate also recommends asking about exclusions, limitations and how losses are valued.
- The home details and proposed effective date.
- Dwelling, belongings, liability and other coverage limits.
- Hurricane and other applicable deductibles, in dollars.
- How roof and personal-property losses would be settled.
- Exclusions, endorsements and any separate coverage needs.
- Total price, payment terms and remaining requirements.
What if a price doesn’t show those details?
I won’t assume them. Choose the option you want reviewed and include your questions with the request. When Jenna shares the actual terms, you can return to your saved home and compare the details with the source quote document.
If something changes—such as the roof year, use of the home or closing date—tell the agency before moving forward. Ask whether the change affects the quote or requires a new price check.
Do I have to choose immediately?
You can sign in to save your progress and return later. A saved price is not a price guarantee. I’d confirm the current quote and availability with Jenna when you’re ready, especially if your planned start date has changed.
